Candace’s Cats

In a previous story you read about my friend Candace’s cat-related arts and crafts; now it’s time for you to get to know Candace’s cats!
Oh, they are so handsome, beautiful, and sweet, and cute, and smart ones! I was babysitting Candace’s cats once, for a week, so I learnt a lot about them.
So, meet Panther, here he is:
Panther the Cat
Panther is 11 years old black male. Actually, he is the oldest one in this cat family, but I would say, he looks almost the youngest :) Maybe it is because he is black :) Maybe it is because he is fuzzy :) Maybe it is because he is very independent cat and he found his special way of living in our mountains country, wisely balancing between local wildlife and homesteading. Panther is not “kissy-kissy” (or “catsy-catsy”) type of cat; as I told you, he is independent fellow, but he loves his human family so much and he cannot imagine his life without Candace, her husband Ron and their sons Jon and Zack.
Next cat male in the family is Jessy. He is 6 years old white-grey kitty-cat:
Jessy the cat
Jessy is more domesticated; he is listening (almost always) what his human friends tell him to do, like, “eat”, “come home”. Jessy only one in his cat family can drink a water directly from a tap! Really cute!
Also Jessy like to socialize with next cat in Candace’s home – Miley:
Miley the Cat
Miley is fuzzy female, approximately the same age with Jessy, so they are one “generation”, I would say – that’s probably why Jessy and Miley are buddy-buddy. Oh, and Miley is the one talking cat! Every her "meow" sounds in different way and full of some certain meaning, like "I am hungry", "Rub my belly", "Let me out" etc. Yes, all the cats in Candace's house are indoor-outdoor ones, which means, they know a taste of healthy fresh air and cat's freedom, but they also remember very well, where is their home
Another cuteness living in Candace's house is 7 months old multi-colored female Poose. I don’t have picture of her so far; but I will photograph her, definitely – he is oh soooo cute! Not because she is still a kitten, by age, but because of her very interesting personality.
So, that’s about it about Candace’s cats so far. More stories to come!

Yes, They Do Sell Catnip In A Liquid Form!

Do they sell catnip in a liquid form?
“C’mon, pour me some more!”
Oh yeah, they do sell catnip in a liquid form!
“Thanks guys!”
P.S. This all cat drinking thing is a fiction. Our Murchyk cat hates even a smell of alcohol. Catnip in a liquid form – that’s would be a fun drink’s option for him. I was just curious if they sell catnip in a liquid at all. Yes, they do! I have found few online. Well, maybe, I will get one for my Murchyk’s birthday…

No, nay, never! No, nay, never, no more!

No, nay, never! No, nay, never, no more!

My two Wild Rovers - a cat and a husband
When I look at these two pictures above, one popular folk song is starting to spin in my head. Remember this? “I've been a wild rover for many's the year, and I spent all me money on whiskey and beer.” And finally a guy from the song decided to quit his previous wild life, and he is singing in the chorus, “No, nay, never! No, nay, never, no more!”
Well, the lyrics of this “The Wild Rover” song is not quite the reflections of these pictures. Everything is opposite: our Murchyk cat (he is on the picture with a shot glass) is not a drunkard at all – he doesn’t like even a smell of alcohol. He just likes to sit on a couch with us, just like a little human :), when my husband and I are watching TV –  or like Garfield the cat from the popular cartoon. To put a shot glass in Murchyk’s paw was my husband’s idea – just for fun, to get a cute picture. So, we got one – “A kitty-cat relaxing in front of TV with a drink after a long working day chasing mice.” On other picture, two my “wild rovers” – a husband and a cat – are relaxing in front of TV after a long working day.
So, as you can see, the real life in my picture has very little to do with actual lyrics of this “Wild Rover” song. But… why does this song keep spinning in my head, when I am looking at those two pics? Oh, I know, why! Because of the SPIRIT of the song! The spirit is so bright and merry and optimistic! And a beautiful tune! I like it!
P.S. Okay, one more picture of our party guy :)
It was a good party!
And that’s it about drinking – no, nay, never, no more!
P.P.S. I like how Flickr user Nearthetime commented on the Murchyk's picture, the one with a shot glass - "Do they sell catnip in a liquid form?" Thanks Nearthetime! I would be glad to use your comment as a headline to the one of my uploads.

Beautiful Cat and a Beautiful Girl

Meet Ira. She is a beautiful girl from Ukraine and a daughter of my best friend Olya. Ira is such a big cat person, just like I am. Here, she is with one of the cats she like so much! The name of the cat is Buck and he is a cat of Ira’s friend:
Beautiful Cat and Beautiful Girl
Ira dreams about her own cat, but so far she cannot have it – she lives in a city condo, and it is not a very convenient to keep a cat in a condo. In a future, when Ira will get a house of her dream, she is for sure will have a cat or two, she said. Right now she has few cats in countryside, in her Grandma’s home. Every visit to the Grandma Ira is having fun playing with her cats and taking pictures of them. Oh! And Ira promised to share some pics and stories of her kitties here, at Murchyks blog. Thanks Ira!

Nanny Cat is Putting Baby to Sleep - Video

P.S. Big thanks to my friend Ira from Ukraine for sending a link of this video!

Merry Catsmess!

Meet Vasey. He is a lovely cat of Jasmine (Jasmine is a niece of my sister-in-law). This picture was taken last year, when Jasmine's family was setting up a Christmas tree. Kitty-cat immediately went to discover what is it and how it works and whether he can play with it. It was Vasey's first Christmas! Yay!
Vasey Cat and a Christmas Tree
Last year was our Murchyk’s first Christmas too. But my husband Ron and I decided to avoid any complications having Christmas tree in the same house with cat – we knew we would have permanent worries whether our Christmas tree, ornaments and garlands are survived, or whether our kitten is okay. Sometimes I think how people can ever manage having a Christmas tree, a baby and a cat (cats) – everything at the same time :)
Anyway. We COULD have a Christmas tree, but we decided to avoid any worries about our cat and tree relationships, so that’s how we decorated our house for Christmas last year – we just hung a kissing ball to the wall. We have ordered a plain fir tree ball in a local garden store and I decorated it with our ornaments:
Kissing Ball

Kissing Ball Real Fir Tree
I can tell you - this is a good Christmas tree solution for cat persons like us!
This year we stuck to the same decoration idea: two kissing balls under the ceiling
Christmas Kissing Ball With Ornaments

Christmas Kissing Ball and Hello Kitty
(oh yeah, cat-related ornament is a must!)
and a swag on a wall:

Knowing our Christmas decorations decision, our friends from the States Olya and Jim sent us a sweet Christmas card which we love so much! Here, what they wrote, “Since you didn’t put up a tree because of your Murchyk might make a mess, we found a card to show you it would make great pictures! Merry Catsmess!”
And here is the card:
Merry Catsmess
Thanks Olya and Jim! Thanks Jasmine for the kitty’s picture! Merry Christmas to all of you, guys! And to all the cats in the world!

Cats and Dogs: Buddy-Buddy, Kissy-Kissy…

Sometimes cat and dog can be amazingly friendly to each other, especially when they live under the same roof, like these two on a video below. So, meet Romeo cat and Chico dog. They both from Alberta and they live with our friend’s family for many years:

Here are some more videos about cat and dog’s friendship/love. As you can see, it’s possible :)
