Murchyk's First Real Interest in a Big Screen - Video

Well, hello everyone! It has been a while since I posted something here. Now it is about time - our Murchyk the cat made our movie night!

My husband and I were watching a nature documentary. Our Murchyk the cat was watching with us as always. Well, he is not normally watching - he is mostly sleeping all our movie nights. But last night he got unexpectedly excited of this nature documentary. He seems really interested what this Big Kitty (a snow leopard) is doing on a screen. Our movie night end up watching not as much of documentary - we were amazed how our cat is reacted on it. Of course, we started filming this reaction on a video, which we are sharing with you now. Hope you have as much fun watching our beloved kitty as we did:

Murchyk the Cat is Hunting for Outdoor Insects

Beautiful weather, nice and quite evening, and our Maine Coon the cat (his name is Murchyk) is up to some hunting for outdoor insects. I don't know who had more fun that night - our cat hunting or I am filming him :) Enjoy the video!

Our Maine Coon Just Loves To Be Brushed!

This is our sweet Maine Coon - Murchyk the cat. Can you hear him purring? That's how he like to be brushed :) Well, somewhere, in the middle of his brushing he think that brush is his toy, but it's okay. Murchyk is very playful cat in general, so, I just let him to have some his cat's fun :)

Today, March 17, 2015, on the St. Patrick's Day, is still snowing in some areas of Canada, and particularly in ours. So our Murchyk the cat just simply tired from this long winter! He wants spring!

Cat Mugs and Cups

Do you know a cat lover who doesn't have at least one cup or mug with kitty-cat on it? I don’t. I am a cat person myself and, of course, I got few of those mugs and cups. They are warming up not only my throat when I am drinking my tea or coffee from them – they are warming up my cat lady’s heart and make me smile just looking at them, and bringing up some nice memories, like this one, with a ginger cat on it:

Cute, isn’t? Actually, this is a gift I gave to my future husband not knowing yet he will be my husband one day :) But I knew already, back that time, that my Ron is the same cat person like I am. And… I have no idea how I could predict when I bought that mug with a ginger cat on it that one day Ron and I will have a cat just like one on this cup – ginger cat with a white mouth, white chest and white paws, our beloved Murchyk the cat? Here he is, our sweetie:

Now, guess how Ron and I call this mug with cut ginger cat on it? Right! A Murchyk mug :)

Speaking about functionality of the mug, I like to drink my coffee or hot milk from it – Murchyk mug is think-walled and keeps my drinks warm for long time.

Okay, now I would like to show you another one my cat lover’s special cup, with entire cat family on it – two adult ginger tabby cats and two kittens. Here is a one side of the cup:

Except, that the cup got a very enjoyable picture on it, I love the quality of the cup – this is fine thin-wall porcelain, the best one for tea. Tea lovers know that the thinner and lighter your teacup the better your tea tastes. So if I decide to have a nice cup of tea, I use my kitty-cat china only.

Next mug with a kitty-cats on it that I want to show you, is not mine – is my friend’s Candace. Candace is a cat lady like I am and she got the funniest and the cutest cat mug I have ever seen in my life!

Take a look at one side of the mug. See a kitty felt asleep? Read why – it is because the coffee was Decatff:

On another side of the cup kitty-cat is wide awake and cheerful. Guess what kind of drink was in the cap? Catffeinated! Yay!

Well, that’s all so far about cat mugs and cups that I wanted to tell you and to show you. I love finding something really funny and cute and cat-related. Hands up, cats’ human friends, whose cats don’t sleep with you!

Our Murchyk the cat is does, oh, he does all right! :) Our bedroom is one of his favorite spots to sleep in entire house (he has many of that spots :)

He can sleep on a little carpet by the bed; he can sleep under the bed; but his favorite place of course is on a bed, in our feet area:

 Or behind Ron’s or my back. Or just like that, on a pillow:

Well, he realizes (sometimes!) that someone else has to sleep on this pillow, too, like me, his human friend :) But very, very often all his look is saying, “I don’t think this is your pillow! This is my pillow!” Or something like that :)

Never mind, kitty! There is lots of room for two of us :) ! Or I can go to sleep on your rug :) Can I?

Ceramic Murchyks the Cats

After seeing this little ceramic picture of a cat at Vernisazh Craft Market in the city of Lviv, Ukraine, I thought immediately, “That’s it! This is our Murchyk the cat!” The same fuzzy, the same cute! Even in the same colors! So, I have no doubts about getting it – the cat on the picture was sooo much like our Murchyk! Well, you can compare with the original – here is our Murchyk the cat and here is his ceramic, I would say, a portrait:

Browsing some more pictures on the same craft market, I also spotted another picture of our Murchyk – with a cute fuzzy friend :) No doubts again, I got that one, too:

 Now, both of the pictures are pleasing my eyes, hanging on a wall. So cute kitties, aren’t they?

 Overall ceramic pictures are quite an unusual art. As I am not only a cat person, but also a ceramic and pottery lover, I can fully appreciate what I got in my trip to Ukraine; I enjoy this cat art very much!

I have no idea how my husband’s brother and his wife knew it, but they made me a great gift for my birthday – another Murchyk on ceramic! Here he is, in the middle – gorgeous ginger cat with his furry friends:

The picture is really nice piece of art; my relatives got it in Toronto and they said it is made in Canada. Beautifully done, I love it!

Murchyk the Cat: Obsessed with Boxes, Just Like Famous Maru the Cat

Like a famous Maru the cat from Japan, our Murchyk the cat just loooove to play with boxes! A size of a shape of a box doesn't matter for him. It can be a long and narrow box like this one:

Our Murchyk the Cat is Playing with a Little Icicle

That's what our Murchyk the cat is doing waiting for a spring break - chasing a little icicle :) All the fancy schmancy cat toys he got are nothing for him if he sees tiny-winy little icicle outside :) Then he asks out and... let's the real fun begin!

Murchyk the Cat: Hunting for Vitamins

 Everyone wants vitamins in a spring… Here is our Murchyk the cat is eating dandelions in our yard:

Yay! Greetings! Greetings! Greetings! From Canadian Murchyk to Murchyk in USA!

Wow! I am so exited to tell you that our Murchyk the cat is not alone with his name on the North American continent. Another Murchyk the cat (on the picture above) live a happy life with Ukrainian family in Chicago, USA. Let me introduce these wonderful people – Maria, her husband Mykhailo and their kids Yaryna and Ostap. They are very nice and intelligent family, very busy at their jobs at they are so happy to get home every night - knowing that their Murchyk is waiting for them patiently and going to greet them with his cozy purring. Well, “purr” in Ukrainian is pronouncing as “murr” - that’s why the name of the cat is Murchyk. Many cats in Ukrainian families are Murchyks. 

Actually, Murchyk from Chicago is Ukrainian cat even by his heritage – can you imagine?! Maria, his owner, told me a story about Murchyk’s birth. His father and mother are both from Ukrainian cities, Kyiv and Lviv. Cats moved to USA together with their owners. Murchyk is born in 2004, so right now he is 8 years old. He is a male cat; actually, female cat cannot be Murchyk in Ukrainian language – Murka is a name for a female cat.

I thought from the pictures of Chicago’s Murchyk that his bread is Maine Coon, like ours, but Maria said, she is not sure about it. He is more Main Coon like, she said; in reality his bread is a mix of Persian and probably Siberian – look at his gorgeous fur! 

Maria said they got their Murchyk when he was one month old. Actually, whole Maria’s family was waiting for his birth, especially kids, Yaryna and Ostap. Time went by very quickly, and Murchyk from a tiny cute kitten became a big beautiful kitty-cat which is very loveable and friendly - he loves people very much. When family members are home or guests are coming over, Murchyk the cat is practically inseparable from humans – he is following people, purring and letting them to pet him.

Every night Murchyk has a ritual to kiss Maria good night; then he sleeps on a carpet by the bed till 5.00 a.m.; then he is getting up knowing that it is time for Maria’s husband Mykhailo to wake up and go to work. Murchyk knows that he is going to get his kitty’s breakfast from Mykhailo.

Also, Chicago’s Murchyk is very talkative cat! (Just like our Canadian Murchyk :). When he needs something, he will come and tell you this in his kitty’s language. And his meows sound differently every time – depend what he wants at the moment.

My personal favorite picture of Chicago’s Murchyk is this one, below, where he is yawning. What an expression!

Intellectual Cat

“Well, guys, I guess, in this house nobody reads those books, except me. You both never have time”, that’s what our intellectual Murchyk cat was thinking, exploring our book shelves

“And… Ron! Get some files cabinets for your papers, for God’s sake! I cannot stand this mess anymore!” – That’s was another comment of our Murchyk after observing some boxes at Ron’s office

“Oh… I see, you guys do listening to me – you just got a nice file cabinet! Good! I can use a box from it. See you tomorrow!
