Music and Cats – at My Friends

My previous post was about music and cats. This one, that I am writing now, is about music and cats as well – inspired by our family’s dear friends Candace and Ron.
Candace and Ron have four beautiful cats at home, and their house full of cat-related arts and crafts. Here is one I like so much – actually, about Music and Cats :)
Music and Cats
You can see a musical notation book under the Music and Cats picture – this book is belong to Candace’s husband Ron. Ron is a very good musician and singer; he plays in a local band. Speaking of cats, Ron said, Jessy is his favorite one, here are they both:
Everyone Loves Jessy the Cat
Here is Jessy’s close up – he is so cute! And serious at the same time – I caught his face on a picture when he was listening to Ron’s music:
Jessy Sweet Cat
And here is Miley the cat, which is definitely loves the musical atmosphere of the house – no wonder, Miley likes to sleep on a top of Ron’s guitar case:
Miley Cute Cat
Here is Miley again – looks like she (Miley is a female) is going to sing something to us :) Oh she can – she is the one talking cat!
Miley the Cutest Cat
I enjoy being around Candace and Ron’s family and their musical cats!
Is your cat (cats) like to sing? Or talk? Or doing something funny and cute?
Please feel free to share your stories and pictures at Murchyks Facebook Page – with a link to your site or blog or social media source.
Thanks for reading us and have a purrfect day!

Candace’s Cats

In a previous story you read about my friend Candace’s cat-related arts and crafts; now it’s time for you to get to know Candace’s cats!
Oh, they are so handsome, beautiful, and sweet, and cute, and smart ones! I was babysitting Candace’s cats once, for a week, so I learnt a lot about them.
So, meet Panther, here he is:
Panther the Cat
Panther is 11 years old black male. Actually, he is the oldest one in this cat family, but I would say, he looks almost the youngest :) Maybe it is because he is black :) Maybe it is because he is fuzzy :) Maybe it is because he is very independent cat and he found his special way of living in our mountains country, wisely balancing between local wildlife and homesteading. Panther is not “kissy-kissy” (or “catsy-catsy”) type of cat; as I told you, he is independent fellow, but he loves his human family so much and he cannot imagine his life without Candace, her husband Ron and their sons Jon and Zack.
Next cat male in the family is Jessy. He is 6 years old white-grey kitty-cat:
Jessy the cat
Jessy is more domesticated; he is listening (almost always) what his human friends tell him to do, like, “eat”, “come home”. Jessy only one in his cat family can drink a water directly from a tap! Really cute!
Also Jessy like to socialize with next cat in Candace’s home – Miley:
Miley the Cat
Miley is fuzzy female, approximately the same age with Jessy, so they are one “generation”, I would say – that’s probably why Jessy and Miley are buddy-buddy. Oh, and Miley is the one talking cat! Every her "meow" sounds in different way and full of some certain meaning, like "I am hungry", "Rub my belly", "Let me out" etc. Yes, all the cats in Candace's house are indoor-outdoor ones, which means, they know a taste of healthy fresh air and cat's freedom, but they also remember very well, where is their home
Another cuteness living in Candace's house is 7 months old multi-colored female Poose. I don’t have picture of her so far; but I will photograph her, definitely – he is oh soooo cute! Not because she is still a kitten, by age, but because of her very interesting personality.
So, that’s about it about Candace’s cats so far. More stories to come!

Yay! Greetings! Greetings! Greetings! From Canadian Murchyk to Murchyk in USA!

Sweet Murchyk the Cat from Chicago
Wow! I am so exited to tell you that our Murchyk the cat is not alone with his name on the North American continent. Another Murchyk the cat (on the picture above) live a happy life with Ukrainian family in Chicago, USA. Let me introduce these wonderful people – Maria, her husband Mykhailo and their kids Yaryna and Ostap. They are very nice and intelligent family, very busy at their jobs at they are so happy to get home every night - knowing that their Murchyk is waiting for them patiently and going to greet them with his cozy purring. Well, “purr” in Ukrainian is pronouncing as “murr” - that’s why the name of the cat is Murchyk. Many cats in Ukrainian families are Murchyks.
Actually, Murchyk from Chicago is Ukrainian cat even by his heritage – can you imagine?! Maria, his owner, told me a story about Murchyk’s birth. His father and mother are both from Ukrainian cities, Kyiv and Lviv. Cats moved to USA together with their owners. Murchyk is born in 2004, so right now he is 8 years old. He is a male cat; actually, female cat cannot be Murchyk in Ukrainian language – Murka is a name for a female cat.
I thought from the pictures of Chicago’s Murchyk that his bread is Maine Coon, like ours, but Maria said, she is not sure about it. He is more Main Coon like, she said; in reality his bread is a mix of Persian and probably Siberian – look at his gorgeous fur!
Cure ball of fur Murchyk the cat from Chicago
Maria said they got their Murchyk when he was one month old. Actually, whole Maria’s family was waiting for his birth, especially kids, Yaryna and Ostap. Time went by very quickly, and Murchyk from a tiny cute kitten became a big beautiful kitty-cat which is very loveable and friendly - he loves people very much. When family members are home or guests are coming over, Murchyk the cat is practically inseparable from humans – he is following people, purring and letting them to pet him.
Every night Murchyk has a ritual to kiss Maria good night; then he sleeps on a carpet by the bed till 5.00 a.m.; then he is getting up knowing that it is time for Maria’s husband Mykhailo to wake up and go to work. Murchyk knows that he is going to get his kitty’s breakfast from Mykhailo.
Also, Chicago’s Murchyk is very talkative cat! (Just like our Canadian Murchyk :). When he needs something, he will come and tell you this in his kitty’s language. And his meows sound differently every time – depend what he wants at the moment.
My personal favorite picture of Chicago’s Murchyk is this one, below, where he is yawning. What an expression!
Murchyk the cat is yawning
Are any more cats by the name of Murchyk on the North American continent? If so, I would be very-very glad to know. Please leave your comments here, at http://www.murchyks.com/, or at Murchyks Facebook page.
And huge thanks to Maria from Chicago for the pictures and story about her Murchyk!

Kitten Is Watching a Video of Himself – Cute!

What a smart and curious kitten someone got! Look, he is so excited to see himself on a video!
Our Murchyk cat is not like that.  He got plenty of his video on YouTube and we showed them to him, but… He was not interested at all! Almost the same reactionhe showed to other kitties’ videos – just a slight interest, that’s all.
As we can see so far, he is more excited about boxes or Ron’s socks, but not about technologies. Well, that’s our sweet kitty and we love him so much, never mind, what he interested in.

Meet Sissi the Cat – New YouTube Star!

So, meet Sissy the cat! Sissy lives in Italy. She will be 2 years old in May this year. Her happy owner is veterinarian Roberto Bonetti who created this amazing cartoon about cat's life -“I think different”:

Sissy’s videos getting thousands views on YouTube: more and more every day. No wondering why - it is because Sissy is very gifted and funny kitty. She can box:

She can fight a “spider” attack:

She can steel tortellini from a dining table:

She is familiar with technologies – she enjoys iPad fishing:

I love this smart little cutie! Hope, you love her too – she is definitely lots of fun!

Sitting Up Cats: Garfield's Brothers (Sisters)?

I have posted already a video review about Standing up Cats, so now is Sitting up Cats turn. I would say, Garfield related :)
The subject – cat is sitting like a human – is very familiar to me, because our Murchyk cat is sitting like this regularly. We have plenty of pictures of him sitting upright, since he was a kitten. Here is one of those pics:
Sitting Up Cat
Our Murchyk can sleep, sitting upright – here is a video of his comfy nap:

Or he can wash himself, listening what other cats on YouTube are talking about, at the same time:

Also, I have found lots of videos on YouTube where cats are sitting upright. Some of them are soooo cute! Please enjoy watching:

Yes, They Do Sell Catnip In A Liquid Form!

Do they sell catnip in a liquid form?
“C’mon, pour me some more!”
Oh yeah, they do sell catnip in a liquid form!
“Thanks guys!”
P.S. This all cat drinking thing is a fiction. Our Murchyk cat hates even a smell of alcohol. Catnip in a liquid form – that’s would be a fun drink’s option for him. I was just curious if they sell catnip in a liquid at all. Yes, they do! I have found few online. Well, maybe, I will get one for my Murchyk’s birthday…

Why Do Cats Love Icicles and Ice-cubes?

Here is our Murchyk cat is having fun with an icicle:
I thought, he will just roll an icicle around – that’s what he normally does with everything what he counts “a toy” – but, as you saw from the video, he didn’t just rolled that icicle around. He licked it! Just like us when we were kids, on a winter day :)
Here I found another video on YouTube with a kitten licking an icicle:
So, as I can see, not only my cat does it. More than that, guys. I have accidentally found a nice post about it. One of the users at answers.yahoo.com told, that his (or hers?) cat loves to drink water with ice cubes in it. Why? – This user asked.
Another guy who (I can tell) is a cat expert gave a good answer for that question, “The “cooler” temperature of the water gives the cat the illusion that the water is fresh.” I totally agree with him. Our Murchyk cat loves fresh water too; he even tried to drink a tap water, right from the tap (as many cats do, by the way), but we normally don’t let him to do it. If we ourselves don’t drink a tap water, concerning about being healthy, why should our cat do it? It is not that hard to keep our Murchyk’s water nice and fresh.
Back to the icicle that our kitty is playing with in the video, it was a one time action: to see what he is going to do with that new “toy”. I am not going to give him this again: cat can catch a cold, just like a human.

Standing Up Cats

Oh boy, it’s almost 2:00 a.m. right now, but I am still up, and what do you think I am doing that late? I just cannot give up watching cat videos on YouTube.
The latest and the cutest my finds are standing up cats: something caught their attention and they are standing up for a minute or two just like humans. I remember our Murchyk cat was standing like this few times, but… Need to be very fast and always have a camera ready to take a movie or at least a picture. My husband and I weren’t fast enough, so… In this case, I want to share with you other people’s videos of standing up cat – well, these videos are too cute not to share. So, here we go – standing up kitties!

I like a comment to the last one, by xcookiex82mmv  – “The only thing missing is the boots, the sword and the hat!”

Cat Themed Magnets!

I bet, every cat lover got at least one of the cat themed magnet on his (her) fridge. At least one!
As I cat person myself, I have three fridge magnets with cats – so far (I don’t mind to have some more, lots of space on my fridge door still vacant).
Every cat magnet on my fridge has an individual story.
This one – “A house is not a home… without a cat” – is a very first fridge magnet my husband Ron and I got for our household, as newly married. Ron’s brother Len, knowing than Ron and I are cat persons gave us this magnet as a hint - to get a real cat for our new home:
A house is not a home without a cat - Fridge Magnet
Next fridge magnet – two smiling kitty-cats – Ron and I got on our honeymoon in Prague:

And finally, my third fridge magnet – I call him “A Happy Kitty” – I bought in our trip to Ukraine in 2011. This is a mirror fridge magnet, and a happy kitty face really reminded me of my Murchyk – that’s why I got it:

So, I just shared my cat fridge magnets with you, guys, and I would be glad to see some of yours. Please feel free to post pictures of them at our Murchyks Facebook page – with a link to your cat blog or website, if you wish.
