Music and Cats – at My Friends

My previous post was about music and cats. This one, that I am writing now, is about music and cats as well – inspired by our family’s dear friends Candace and Ron.
Candace and Ron have four beautiful cats at home, and their house full of cat-related arts and crafts. Here is one I like so much – actually, about Music and Cats :)
Music and Cats
You can see a musical notation book under the Music and Cats picture – this book is belong to Candace’s husband Ron. Ron is a very good musician and singer; he plays in a local band. Speaking of cats, Ron said, Jessy is his favorite one, here are they both:
Everyone Loves Jessy the Cat
Here is Jessy’s close up – he is so cute! And serious at the same time – I caught his face on a picture when he was listening to Ron’s music:
Jessy Sweet Cat
And here is Miley the cat, which is definitely loves the musical atmosphere of the house – no wonder, Miley likes to sleep on a top of Ron’s guitar case:
Miley Cute Cat
Here is Miley again – looks like she (Miley is a female) is going to sing something to us :) Oh she can – she is the one talking cat!
Miley the Cutest Cat
I enjoy being around Candace and Ron’s family and their musical cats!
Is your cat (cats) like to sing? Or talk? Or doing something funny and cute?
Please feel free to share your stories and pictures at Murchyks Facebook Page – with a link to your site or blog or social media source.
Thanks for reading us and have a purrfect day!

Candace’s Cats

In a previous story you read about my friend Candace’s cat-related arts and crafts; now it’s time for you to get to know Candace’s cats!
Oh, they are so handsome, beautiful, and sweet, and cute, and smart ones! I was babysitting Candace’s cats once, for a week, so I learnt a lot about them.
So, meet Panther, here he is:
Panther the Cat
Panther is 11 years old black male. Actually, he is the oldest one in this cat family, but I would say, he looks almost the youngest :) Maybe it is because he is black :) Maybe it is because he is fuzzy :) Maybe it is because he is very independent cat and he found his special way of living in our mountains country, wisely balancing between local wildlife and homesteading. Panther is not “kissy-kissy” (or “catsy-catsy”) type of cat; as I told you, he is independent fellow, but he loves his human family so much and he cannot imagine his life without Candace, her husband Ron and their sons Jon and Zack.
Next cat male in the family is Jessy. He is 6 years old white-grey kitty-cat:
Jessy the cat
Jessy is more domesticated; he is listening (almost always) what his human friends tell him to do, like, “eat”, “come home”. Jessy only one in his cat family can drink a water directly from a tap! Really cute!
Also Jessy like to socialize with next cat in Candace’s home – Miley:
Miley the Cat
Miley is fuzzy female, approximately the same age with Jessy, so they are one “generation”, I would say – that’s probably why Jessy and Miley are buddy-buddy. Oh, and Miley is the one talking cat! Every her "meow" sounds in different way and full of some certain meaning, like "I am hungry", "Rub my belly", "Let me out" etc. Yes, all the cats in Candace's house are indoor-outdoor ones, which means, they know a taste of healthy fresh air and cat's freedom, but they also remember very well, where is their home
Another cuteness living in Candace's house is 7 months old multi-colored female Poose. I don’t have picture of her so far; but I will photograph her, definitely – he is oh soooo cute! Not because she is still a kitten, by age, but because of her very interesting personality.
So, that’s about it about Candace’s cats so far. More stories to come!

Sitting Up Cats: Garfield's Brothers (Sisters)?

I have posted already a video review about Standing up Cats, so now is Sitting up Cats turn. I would say, Garfield related :)
The subject – cat is sitting like a human – is very familiar to me, because our Murchyk cat is sitting like this regularly. We have plenty of pictures of him sitting upright, since he was a kitten. Here is one of those pics:
Sitting Up Cat
Our Murchyk can sleep, sitting upright – here is a video of his comfy nap:

Or he can wash himself, listening what other cats on YouTube are talking about, at the same time:

Also, I have found lots of videos on YouTube where cats are sitting upright. Some of them are soooo cute! Please enjoy watching:

Yes, They Do Sell Catnip In A Liquid Form!

Do they sell catnip in a liquid form?
“C’mon, pour me some more!”
Oh yeah, they do sell catnip in a liquid form!
“Thanks guys!”
P.S. This all cat drinking thing is a fiction. Our Murchyk cat hates even a smell of alcohol. Catnip in a liquid form – that’s would be a fun drink’s option for him. I was just curious if they sell catnip in a liquid at all. Yes, they do! I have found few online. Well, maybe, I will get one for my Murchyk’s birthday…

Why Do Cats Love Icicles and Ice-cubes?

Here is our Murchyk cat is having fun with an icicle:
I thought, he will just roll an icicle around – that’s what he normally does with everything what he counts “a toy” – but, as you saw from the video, he didn’t just rolled that icicle around. He licked it! Just like us when we were kids, on a winter day :)
Here I found another video on YouTube with a kitten licking an icicle:
So, as I can see, not only my cat does it. More than that, guys. I have accidentally found a nice post about it. One of the users at answers.yahoo.com told, that his (or hers?) cat loves to drink water with ice cubes in it. Why? – This user asked.
Another guy who (I can tell) is a cat expert gave a good answer for that question, “The “cooler” temperature of the water gives the cat the illusion that the water is fresh.” I totally agree with him. Our Murchyk cat loves fresh water too; he even tried to drink a tap water, right from the tap (as many cats do, by the way), but we normally don’t let him to do it. If we ourselves don’t drink a tap water, concerning about being healthy, why should our cat do it? It is not that hard to keep our Murchyk’s water nice and fresh.
Back to the icicle that our kitty is playing with in the video, it was a one time action: to see what he is going to do with that new “toy”. I am not going to give him this again: cat can catch a cold, just like a human.

Standing Up Cats

Oh boy, it’s almost 2:00 a.m. right now, but I am still up, and what do you think I am doing that late? I just cannot give up watching cat videos on YouTube.
The latest and the cutest my finds are standing up cats: something caught their attention and they are standing up for a minute or two just like humans. I remember our Murchyk cat was standing like this few times, but… Need to be very fast and always have a camera ready to take a movie or at least a picture. My husband and I weren’t fast enough, so… In this case, I want to share with you other people’s videos of standing up cat – well, these videos are too cute not to share. So, here we go – standing up kitties!

I like a comment to the last one, by xcookiex82mmv  – “The only thing missing is the boots, the sword and the hat!”

Our Murchyk Cat and Boxes – Inspired by Maru

Watching a one of my favorite cat videos - Maru is playing with boxes (Maru is a Scottish Fold cat from Japan; he is a one of the most famous cats on YouTube) – I was thinking: wait, it’s seem to me that I have a picture of my Murchyk cat, doing the same thing, when he was a kitten! So, I looked through my archives and I found it! Yes! My beloved Murchyk is playing with a Zrii box, here is the picture:
Murchyk Cat in a Zrii Box
Well, Murchyk is a big cat now, he is one and half years old and he is very furry (most likely, he is a Main Coon), but I still curios if he is going to fit in one of those boxes. So, Murchyk, let’s try!
And he did, and he still fit! Yay! I couldn’t believe it! So, here is a picture I took just recently – Murchyk is playing with a soda box:
Murchyk Cat in a Pepsi Box
And here is a video. Hope you enjoy it and… thanks to Maru for the inspiration!

No, nay, never! No, nay, never, no more!

No, nay, never! No, nay, never, no more!

My two Wild Rovers - a cat and a husband
When I look at these two pictures above, one popular folk song is starting to spin in my head. Remember this? “I've been a wild rover for many's the year, and I spent all me money on whiskey and beer.” And finally a guy from the song decided to quit his previous wild life, and he is singing in the chorus, “No, nay, never! No, nay, never, no more!”
Well, the lyrics of this “The Wild Rover” song is not quite the reflections of these pictures. Everything is opposite: our Murchyk cat (he is on the picture with a shot glass) is not a drunkard at all – he doesn’t like even a smell of alcohol. He just likes to sit on a couch with us, just like a little human :), when my husband and I are watching TV –  or like Garfield the cat from the popular cartoon. To put a shot glass in Murchyk’s paw was my husband’s idea – just for fun, to get a cute picture. So, we got one – “A kitty-cat relaxing in front of TV with a drink after a long working day chasing mice.” On other picture, two my “wild rovers” – a husband and a cat – are relaxing in front of TV after a long working day.
So, as you can see, the real life in my picture has very little to do with actual lyrics of this “Wild Rover” song. But… why does this song keep spinning in my head, when I am looking at those two pics? Oh, I know, why! Because of the SPIRIT of the song! The spirit is so bright and merry and optimistic! And a beautiful tune! I like it!
P.S. Okay, one more picture of our party guy :)
It was a good party!
And that’s it about drinking – no, nay, never, no more!
P.P.S. I like how Flickr user Nearthetime commented on the Murchyk's picture, the one with a shot glass - "Do they sell catnip in a liquid form?" Thanks Nearthetime! I would be glad to use your comment as a headline to the one of my uploads.

Beautiful Cat and a Beautiful Girl

Meet Ira. She is a beautiful girl from Ukraine and a daughter of my best friend Olya. Ira is such a big cat person, just like I am. Here, she is with one of the cats she like so much! The name of the cat is Buck and he is a cat of Ira’s friend:
Beautiful Cat and Beautiful Girl
Ira dreams about her own cat, but so far she cannot have it – she lives in a city condo, and it is not a very convenient to keep a cat in a condo. In a future, when Ira will get a house of her dream, she is for sure will have a cat or two, she said. Right now she has few cats in countryside, in her Grandma’s home. Every visit to the Grandma Ira is having fun playing with her cats and taking pictures of them. Oh! And Ira promised to share some pics and stories of her kitties here, at Murchyks blog. Thanks Ira!

Nanny Cat is Putting Baby to Sleep - Video

Please enjoy this new YouTube hit:

P.S. Big thanks to my friend Ira from Ukraine for sending a link of this video!

Cat-Related Christmas Ornaments

Christmas would not be a Christmas for cat persons without having cat-related ornaments on a Christmas tree or another fir tree unit (like ours), right? So, I would like to share with you what we got on our kissing ball this Christmas – a “Hello Kitty” ornament:
Hello Kitty Christmas Ornament
Next one is not ours. This picture of a Tigger Kitty ornament our friend Galya from Texas sent to us. Galya is a cat person too, and that’s what she got for her family Christmas tree:

If you have some cat-related Christmas ornaments and would like to share, please feel free to post those at our Murchyks Facebook page (can be posted with a link to your website or blog).

Merry Catsmess!

Meet Vasey. He is a lovely cat of Jasmine (Jasmine is a niece of my sister-in-law). This picture was taken last year, when Jasmine's family was setting up a Christmas tree. Kitty-cat immediately went to discover what is it and how it works and whether he can play with it. It was Vasey's first Christmas! Yay!
Vasey Cat and a Christmas Tree
Last year was our Murchyk’s first Christmas too. But my husband Ron and I decided to avoid any complications having Christmas tree in the same house with cat – we knew we would have permanent worries whether our Christmas tree, ornaments and garlands are survived, or whether our kitten is okay. Sometimes I think how people can ever manage having a Christmas tree, a baby and a cat (cats) – everything at the same time :)
Anyway. We COULD have a Christmas tree, but we decided to avoid any worries about our cat and tree relationships, so that’s how we decorated our house for Christmas last year – we just hung a kissing ball to the wall. We have ordered a plain fir tree ball in a local garden store and I decorated it with our ornaments:
Kissing Ball

Kissing Ball Real Fir Tree
I can tell you - this is a good Christmas tree solution for cat persons like us!
This year we stuck to the same decoration idea: two kissing balls under the ceiling
Christmas Kissing Ball With Ornaments

Christmas Kissing Ball and Hello Kitty
(oh yeah, cat-related ornament is a must!)
and a swag on a wall:
Christmas Swag with Ornaments
Knowing our Christmas decorations decision, our friends from the States Olya and Jim sent us a sweet Christmas card which we love so much! Here, what they wrote, “Since you didn’t put up a tree because of your Murchyk might make a mess, we found a card to show you it would make great pictures! Merry Catsmess!”
And here is the card:
Merry Catsmess
Thanks Olya and Jim! Thanks Jasmine for the kitty’s picture! Merry Christmas to all of you, guys! And to all the cats in the world!

Hello Tiggers!

I couldn’t resist sharing with you pictures of Tigger – he is a cat of our friends from England. Tigger is three years old now; here are few photographs of him, when he was a kitten. I would say, when he was a kitten he could compete for the title of the cutest kitten ever! Look at these big eyes and a precious mouth outline:

Hello to all the cats in the world whose name is Tigger! Here is another sweetie I love very much – he is a cat of our friends from Northern Alberta. He is not a young fellow – he is more than 10 years old. I love him so much! He is one of the sweetest cats I ever seen in my life, here he is:

Cats Can: Talk, Play Piano, Boxing etc

Three my favorite YouTube videos about cats I would like to share with you today – a boxing cat

and a cat practicing piano

and two talking cats.

Well, I was always dreaming that my Murchyk cat would do something unusual, I will take a video of it, and my cat will be a YouTube star. But… Time goes by; my furry sweetie grew up from a little kitten to a big cat and… still did not do anything that much funny that would worth taking video of. Well, expect, maybe, playing with a remote control. But I was not fast enough to take a video of it – well, at least I got a picture, here is our Murchyk picking up channels on TV:
Cat and Remote Control
Thanks for reading and watching, and I still hope my cat will do something very excited and will be on YouTube one day!
